GREAT NEWS - AWARDED!
I am very happy and proud - IM VERBORGENEN has been awarded by the german Stiftung Buchkunst as one of the most beautiful 25 books in Germany in 2015. This price is one of the most important and best one you can get in Germany. And I am thankful that this happens to a project I had so much fun and pleasure realizing it! The awards ceremony will take place on 3th of September in Frankfurt/ Main.

I WANT, I WANT, I WANT...
At the very beginning a postcard: Konstantinos Kavafis at the beach of Alexandria, a drawing by David Hockney. Then the publisher Verlagshaus J. Frank asked me if I would like to illustrate a book. Unpublished poems written by the greak poet Konstantinos Kavafis. Illustrating in the sence of creating a visual contemporary stream along the poems, corresponding with them. And i loved to do it!
That was the kick of for an exciting creative journey for me. WHAAAM! Put away all the fences and rules in my mind. I drew, painted, filmed, built sceneries and photographed them, made live-drawing on little travels I did for research reasons. Put all this together in black and gold. The two print colors of the book. Besides I blogged the creative process in my german blog.
Dominik Ziller (Verlagshaus J. Frank) added an excellence grafic-design, which made the textes - translated by Jan Kuhlbrodt and Jorgos Kartakis - fit wonderful with my image streams. The longest - House of psych - 86,6 inch ! 94 pages of the 128 pages volumes are filled with exciting wild worlds:-) Plus an extraordinary epilogue written by Ricardo Domeneck (translation by Johannes Frank).
Thank you very much to the publishers, which gave me the total freedom of creation and encouraged me in that. Please order the book at Verlagshaus J.Frank, it is written in german and greak, but that much ilustrated that I think its a joy even if you dont understand german or greak:-)
